Basic training - cranes / lifting equipment
Lifting equipment may be operated only by an employee who has gone through education and training and holds a certificate for its operation. This follows from Section 17(3) of Decree No. 508/2009 Coll.
We issue the certificate for the operation of lifting equipment under Section 16(1)(c) of Act No. 124/2006 Coll. after a written test.
The scope of the course depends on how complex the equipment is. We go through the construction and the controls of the given type, the load chart and the permitted load, the safety features and their check before work starts, the rules for moving a load and the prohibited manipulations, communication with the slinger and the procedure in the event of a fault.
Mobile and tower cranes of the jib type are a separate category. For those, under Section 17(1) of Decree No. 508/2009 Coll., the operator needs a licence card issued by the labour inspectorate.
The course is open to a person from 18 years of age who has completed compulsory basic schooling.
The familiarisation is repeated at least once every three years under Section 7(5) of Act No. 124/2006 Coll. The course Refresher training, cranes and lifting equipment serves for that.
We train under Slovak regulations, which derive from Directive 2009/104/EC on the use of work equipment, valid throughout the European Union. In our experience the certificate is commonly recognised in the other member states.
If you also employ a hydraulic loader crane operator or a slinger, see the courses Hydraulic loader crane and Slinger.
