Refresher training - work at height using rope access techniques
A licence card for work at height using special mountaineering and speleological techniques has to be kept valid. There are two duties for that and it is worth not confusing them.
Repeated familiarisation is carried out once every 12 months under Section 3(1) of Decree No. 147/2013 Coll. We go through the changes in the regulations, the lessons from accidents in rope work and the mistakes we see most often in practice. Those are an anchor without a back up, a missing safety rope, a rope running over a sharp edge without a protector, equipment past its service life, and working alone without a second trained person on site.
The practical part belongs to rescue. We repeat lowering and raising an injured person from the rope, because the clock starts running the moment a fall is arrested and suspension trauma comes sooner than most people expect.
Updating professional training is a separate matter and is carried out every five years under Section 16(8) of Act No. 124/2006 Coll.. We run it too, just get in touch and we will arrange a date.
If the worker does not have the licence card yet, start with the basic course.
