Refresher training - cranes / lifting equipment
The certificate for operating lifting equipment has to be kept valid. Repeated familiarisation is carried out at least once every three years under Section 7(5) of Act No. 124/2006 Coll.
We go through the changes in the regulations since the last training, the lessons from accidents in work with lifting equipment and the mistakes we see most often in practice. Those are exceeding the permitted load, moving a load over a workplace, dragging a load at an angle and skipped checks of the safety features before work starts.
If the equipment has changed meanwhile or a new type has been added, tell us in advance and we will adapt the training to it.
Familiarisation is not only due when the deadline runs out. The law also requires it when you transfer an employee to another workplace or other work, or when you introduce a new working procedure or new work equipment (Section 7(3) of Act No. 124/2006 Coll.). A new crane or a different type of lifting equipment is therefore a reason for training even if three years have not yet passed since the last one.
Familiarisation must be demonstrable and the employer has to verify that the employee understands the regulations and working procedures (Section 7(1)(a) of Act No. 124/2006 Coll.). Without a written record with the date, content and signatures, this is hard to prove during an inspection.
If the operator does not have the certificate yet, start with the course Basic training, cranes and lifting equipment.
