Basic training - work at height and above free depth
Work at a height above 1.5 metres and above open depth calls for extra training whenever it cannot be done from a firm and safe floor, from a mobile elevating work platform or from a ladder up to a height of 5 metres. In that case the employee needs familiarisation and a certificate of it.
We go through the assessment of the work location and the choice of protection, collective protection before personal protection, that is guard rails and safety nets before a harness, the components of a personal protective system and their check, anchor points and their load bearing capacity, the fall distance, the energy absorber and the clear space below the workplace, work on a roof and at its edge, work on a ladder and securing it, the weather and the conditions under which work is interrupted, and the rescue plan after a fall has been arrested.
The course ends with a test. After that we issue a record of familiarisation of a person working at height and above open depth in the form of a licence card under Section 16(1)(a) of Act No. 124/2006 Coll.
The course is open to a person from 18 years of age who has completed compulsory basic schooling.
The familiarisation is repeated once every 12 months under Section 3(1) of Decree No. 147/2013 Coll. The refresher training serves for that.
Anyone who works on a rope needs a separate licence card for rope access techniques. Scaffolders will find the scaffolder's course useful, platform operators the course for mobile elevating work platforms.
We train under Slovak regulations, which derive from Directive 2009/104/EC on the use of work equipment, valid throughout the European Union. In our experience the certificate is commonly recognised in the other member states.
