Basic training - vertical sliding gates
A vertical sliding gate is lifting equipment. It may be operated only by someone who has gone through familiarisation and training and holds a written certificate of verified professional knowledge under Section 17(3) of Decree No. 508/2009 Coll.
It sounds like a small thing until something happens. The gate is heavy, it moves vertically and when it fails it falls. That is why it pays off to let only instructed people operate it.
We go through the construction and the drive of the gate, the controls and the emergency stop, the safety features, that is the light curtain, the end stops and the fall arrest devices, and their check before the start of the shift, the ban on standing under the gate and under a load, behaviour in the event of a fault and of a power failure, emergency opening and closing, and the rules for vehicles passing through and for people moving in the area of the gate.
The course ends with a written test. After that we issue the certificate for operation.
The course is open to a person from 18 years of age who has completed compulsory basic schooling.
The certificate has to be kept valid. The familiarisation is repeated at least once every three years under Section 7(5) of Act No. 124/2006 Coll. The refresher training serves for that.
If you also have other lifting equipment on site, see the course for cranes and lifting equipment.
