The certificate for operating a vertical sliding gate has to be kept valid. Repeated familiarisation is carried out at least once every three years under Section 7(5) of Act No. 124/2006 Coll.
We go through the changes in the regulations since the last training and the mistakes we see most often in practice. Those are a light curtain switched off or taped over, walking under the gate while it moves, emergency opening without securing the leaf against falling, and skipped checks of the safety features before the shift.
We pay particular attention to the situations where the gate does not work as it should. It jams halfway, it does not respond to the control unit, or the power fails. That is exactly when people improvise, and exactly when accidents happen. We show the correct procedure for emergency opening and also when it is time to call the service company and take the gate out of operation.
We also repeat the daily check before the start of the shift, that is what the operator should verify before starting the gate for the first time and how a detected defect is recorded.
If the gate has been changed meanwhile or a new one has been added, tell us in advance and we will adapt the training to it.
If the operator does not have the certificate yet, start with the basic training. For other lifting equipment, the refresher training for cranes and lifting equipment serves.
