Inspection of Fire Protection Equipment (Fire Extinguishers and Hydrants)

A fire extinguisher or a hydrant only helps if it works. Act No. 314/2001 Coll. on fire protection therefore requires both the owner and the operator to arrange regular checks of fire protection equipment and to keep records of them. During an inspection by the district directorate of the Fire and Rescue Service, the reports and labels are among the first things looked at.

We carry out the checks at your premises, with all the tools and spare parts in the van. We fix most defects on the spot, so your site is never left unprotected.

Fire extinguishers

Under Section 9 of Decree No. 347/2022 Coll., a periodic check of an installed portable fire extinguisher is carried out at least once every 24 months, and once every 12 months for a mobile carbon dioxide extinguisher. If the manufacturer sets a shorter interval, their instruction applies. In practice most sites have the check done once every 12 months, especially in dusty, damp or outdoor environments. The pressure test of the cylinder is carried out once every five years. Alongside the check we arrange refilling, repairs and the disposal of extinguishers that have reached the end of their life, and we can supply and position new ones according to the design or the fire risk assessment.

Fire mains and hydrants

We check fire water supply equipment at least once every 12 months, as required by Section 15 of Decree No. 699/2004 Coll. We check the outlets, fittings, valves, hoses and reels, carry out a flow and pressure test and issue a report. Faulty hoses and fittings are replaced.

Fire doors

Fire doors and other fire closures are checked as part of the preventive fire inspection under Decree No. 478/2008 Coll. We look at self-closing, seals, hardware and the legibility of the marking.
