Every employer must have an occupational health service in place, for all employees regardless of the work category. This follows from Act No. 355/2007 Coll. on the protection, promotion and development of public health and from Act No. 124/2006 Coll., which ranks it together with the occupational safety service among preventive and protective services.
It is not the same as a company doctor and it is not a one-page formality. It is continuous supervision of working conditions and of the health of the people who work for you. We are an authorised occupational health service, the documents are on the Authorisations and certificates page.
Health risk assessment and work categorisation. We go through each job position, assess the factors of work and the working environment, that is noise, vibration, dust, chemical substances, physical load and display screen work, and assign the work to categories.
Operating rules for the factors where the law requires them, and their update whenever your operation changes.
Workplace supervision. We come to you, look at the real conditions and propose measures. You receive the record in writing.
Work-related medical examinations. We help determine who has to undergo them and at what intervals, and we arrange the examinations.
Documents for the public health authority including proposals for classifying work into categories three and four and the related notifications.
The most common mistake is that a company has an occupational health service contract, but the work categorisation is several years old and new machines or a new site have been added in the meantime. An inspection spots this immediately, because the documents do not match reality.
The second common issue is medical examinations. For some occupations they are required by a regulation other than the health one. For machine and lifting equipment operators, for example, a medical fitness certificate is needed before the licence is issued, see our course catalogue.
The occupational health service is usually ordered together with occupational safety and fire protection. The employer must also designate and train people to provide first aid.
