Czym jest PZS?

Służba medycyny pracy (PZS) plays a key role in creating a safe and healthy working environment. Its main objective is the prevention of occupational accidents, occupational diseases and the maintenance of employees’ ability to work through professional health and preventive measures.

OHS cooperates with employers and experts in the field of occupational safety and health (OSH) and provides professional consultancy in the field of health protection at work.

The main activities of OHS include:

  • assessment of risks at the workplace,

  • preparation of professional risk assessment opinions,

  • monitoring of working conditions,

  • ensuring preventive medical examinations of employees.


Ustawowy obowiązek pracodawcy

Occupational Health Service is a legal obligation of every employer under Act No. 355/2007 Coll. on the protection, support and development of public health.

The obligation to secure OHS applies to:

  • every employer who has at least one employee,

  • also an employer who is an employee of themselves.

The aim of the law is to protect employees from occupational risks and ensure that they work in an environment that does not harm their health.


Podstawowe obowiązki pracodawcy w zakresie PZS

1. Reduction of exposure to work factors

The employer is obliged to ensure measures that minimize the impact of:

  • physical,

  • chemical,

  • biological,

  • and other factors of the working environment.


2. Assessment of health risk

The employer must:

  • ensure assessment of the health risk arising from working conditions,

  • cooperate with OHS in preparing a written risk assessment opinion,

  • perform work categorization in terms of health risk.


3. Periodic assessment of health risk

Health risk assessment is carried out regularly:

  • 2nd category of work – at least once every 24 months,

  • 3rd and 4th category of work – at least once a year.
