Preparing your company for SCC certification

SCC, VCA in the Dutch original, is a certification scheme for safety, health and environmental management at contractors. It is not a Slovak regulation, it is a customer requirement. Without it a company will not get into most industrial sites, refineries, chemical plants and large construction projects in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Belgium.

The certification itself is carried out by an independent certification body. We prepare you for it so that you pass the first time.

How the preparation works

Initial gap analysis. We compare what you have in place with what the scheme requires. The output is a prioritised list of gaps, not a hundred pages of theory.

Documentation and processes. Safety policy and objectives, task risk analysis, management of subcontractors, reporting and investigation of accidents and near misses, tracking of indicators, workplace inspections and a training plan.

Training of your people. Workers need to complete SCC 016 training, the certificate of which is valid for five years. See our course catalogue.

Internal audit and rehearsal. We go through the company the way the auditor will and prepare your people for the questions they will be asked.

Attendance at the certification audit. We are there with you and deal with the findings.

When to start

Preparation takes weeks to months depending on the size of the company and on how much you already have. If a customer is pushing you towards a deadline, get in touch as early as possible, because some requirements cannot be met retrospectively. Accident rate tracking, for example, needs history.

A large part of the SCC requirements is covered by a well set up occupational safety service, occupational health service and environmental protection. If you have them with us, the preparation is considerably shorter.
